8:30pm. Havemeyer st & s 3rd, Brooklyn; Two men were assaulted. One man was shot in the leg outside a restaurant on Havemeyer st, just below S 3rd. The other was slashed in the face, which occurred around 232 S 3rd. Two suspects fled north on Havemeyer. They have not been found.
The shooting victim was transported to a nearby hospital. The stabbing victim has been located and is receiving medical treatment. Both are in stable condition.
A witness on the scene, Ezra Ziat told Sleuth he was able to capture video of the events. He showed Sleuth video of the victim in pain but responsive, being placed into an FDNY ambulance. He also showed video of what appeared to be a suspect being detained, though this conflicts with information given by Public Information.
Witnesses also told Sleuth they heard the shooting may have been gang related.
Two crime scenes were set up for investigation. Detectives were able to recover evidence at both scenes, including the knife used in the stabbing.
A local resident told Sleuth that the area was not prone to this type of violent crime.
It should be noted that another potentially gang-related shooting occurred just yesterday on 130 Humbolt st, which is only around 12 blocks away. No official word has linked these two crimes.
